Chemical Bonding

The Chemical Bonding is a pre-installation fresh concrete composite waterproofing for the area in contact with the ground for pressurized and non-pressurized water. The full-surface waterproofing is achieved by an adhesive bond between the fresh concrete and the membrane. The concrete can be poured immediately after the installation of the membrane and reinforcement. When the concrete is cured, an adhesive bond is formed that is completely backfill-proof.

Features

Smooth Surface

Easy to Clean Onsite - Influence on the concrete and the bond between concrete and membrane.

Full-surface adhesive bond

Due to the pressure-sensitive hotmelt, a fully integral, rear-safe bond to the concrete is created (tested up to 7 bar).

Minimized uncertainties

Minimized site uncertainties e.g. insufficient concrete compaction or consistency class – because Consistency class of concrete is irrelevant.

Protective Layer

Protective layer rainwater resistant and slip resistant.

No hot-air welding

Flexible for complex site situations, no hot-air welding, no additional construction chemicals, no solvent based adhesives - Easy to repair with Repair-Tape.

Minimized waste

Minimized waste on-site - release only on self adheasive overlapping area.

Holistic system solution

  1. Place corners in the corner area
  2. Add the horizontal sealing tape to the sealing construction
  3. Fix the sealing tape vertically in the corner area.
  4. Start laying the sealing mebrane in the corners with the FPO-site facing the water and the adhesive side the concrete. Overlapping areas must be observed.

Frequently asked questions

FBM-CB is not directly comparable to existing products on the market due to the material composition. The Chemical Bonding consists of an FPO membrane, a hotmelt adhesive layer and a special protective layer for the adhesive coating. This makes it a purely adhesive fresh concrete composite waterproofing system. The advantage of the adhesive bond is the fully integral connection between the membrane and the concrete, thus ensuring the higher back-up safety of the waterproofing.

The FBM-CB with the 0.9 mm thick membrane is supplied with an adhesive overlap. For easy installation, the hotmelt coating is covered with an additional release film, which can simply be peeled off shortly before bonding. The adhesive overlap is then pressed on with a pressure roller. The FBM-CB version with the 1.2 mm thick membrane is also available with a thermally available alternative.

The thickness of the Chemical Bonding membrane is 0.9 mm and the total thickness is 1.2 mm. This gives the membrane a lower overall weight, which makes it easier to process. The thinner membrane in relation to comparable competitor products has no negative influence on the tightness.

The tested adhesive pull values of the membrane are 0.36 N / mm² on average. It is important to note that certain stripping times must be taken into account. This has a high influence on the bonding between concrete and membrane. A high adhesive pull value has no influence on migration!

The FBM-CB has passed the rear end safety test at the testing institute MPA BS in accordance with ASTM 5385 mod. Up to 7 bar.

The protective layer serves to cover the hotmelt coating on the membrane and can be walked on. At the same time, it also allows the reinforcement to be laid. The protective layer is only activated on contact with fresh concrete and thus achieves an adhesive bond between the membrane and the concrete. This special cover means that no additional release paper needs to be used to protect the adhesive layer of the membrane. This saves additional waste and ensures easier processing. In addition, the surface of the protective layer can be cleaned better on the construction site and easy handling of the product is made possible. The cleanliness of the membrane has an important influence on the concrete.

In order to achieve a fully integral connection to the membrane, the substrate must be freed from leaves, dust and dirt. Otherwise, the back-up safety cannot be guaranteed. However, there are more and more other contaminants such as cement slurry, sand and soil that also have to be removed so that the concrete structure can be executed properly. Otherwise there would be a risk of edge zone irritation. Due to the smooth surface of the protective layer of the FBM-CB, the membrane can be easily and quickly freed from any impurities even with a high-pressure cleaner.

We attach great importance to solvent-free production, which also benefits the end customer. Furthermore, we reduce waste on the construction site through the protective layer without release. Wherever possible, we use recycled materials in the production process.

Due to the chemical properties of hotmelt, it has a lower melting temperature than butyl and is particularly suitable for warm applications. This prevents the adhesive layer from running off the membrane and improves its shelf life. The processing temperature of FBM-CB is between -5 °C and + 35 °C. Installation work at -10 °C is usually not carried out outdoors.

For this purpose, we supply a special repair tape solution in the FBM-CM system, which has the adhesive coating of the chemical bonding membrane on the top side and a butyl coating on the bottom side, which can be easily applied directly to the protective layer of the membrane.

Because damage requires an overlap of 100 mm per side next to the damage, a width of 250 mm is recommended for the Repair Tape.

Yes, the Chemical Bonding has a product guarantee of 10 years.
